Mimas - Saturn's Moons SlideshowWhile Saturn's moon Mimas may not offer any amazing discoveries, it has always been a favorite of astronomers because of it's similarity ot the shape of the "Death Star" from "Star Wars" The great eye of Saturn's moon Mimas is a 130-kilometer-wide (80-mile) impact crater called Herschel. The Herschel crater is the moon's most prominent feature, and the impact that formed it probably nearly destroyed Mimas. The asteroid-like surface of Mimas is seen in its crater-upon-crater appearance. Even the material that has slumped down into the bottom of some of its craters bears the marks of later impacts.
