This graph, consisting of data acquired on Mars from the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit's mini-thermal emission spectrometer, shows the light, or spectral, signature of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide makes up the bulk of the thin martian atmosphere. (2004)

Compet Tempel 1 Brightness Image 2:
This plot consists of data taken by the Deep Impact's medium-resolution instrument before the mission's scheduled collision with comet Tempel 1. It shows the total brightness of the comet versus time until impact. Two outbursts of the comet can be seen as sharp peaks. (2005)
